Daikin PCBs: Faults, Error Codes & Replacement

Genuine Daikin air conditioner control PCB — National AC Parts

The PCB — the printed circuit board — is the brain of a Daikin air conditioner. It reads the sensors, talks to the controller, and drives the fan and compressor. When a board fails, the unit can do almost anything: shut down, ignore the remote, run erratically, or flash a persistent error code. This guide explains what the boards do, why they fail, and how to get the right genuine replacement.

The boards in a Daikin system

Most Daikin systems have more than one board. The indoor PCB runs the indoor unit and its sensors; the outdoor main and control PCBs manage the compressor and outdoor fan; and on inverter systems, the inverter PCB varies the compressor speed. There are also smaller boards — noise-filter PCBs, display boards — and some systems pair a board with a capacity-setting adaptor or EEPROM that holds the model’s settings.

Why PCBs fail

Electronics don’t wear out the way moving parts do — they’re usually killed by something. Power surges and lightning, moisture ingress, heat and age are the common causes. On inverter systems, a failing board often shows up as a compressor that won’t run or an outdoor unit that won’t start.

Why error codes matter

A Daikin error code is the system telling you where it thinks the fault is. Some codes point to the board itself; others point to a sensor or component the board has lost contact with. The code is the starting point for diagnosis, not always the final answer — which is why a licensed technician reads the code in context before replacing a board.

Safety: a licensed technician’s job

Replacing a PCB means working in the unit’s electrical compartment, with mains voltage present and static-sensitive components. It’s a job for a licensed technician, who will confirm the diagnosis, fit the correct board, and set any required capacity settings.

Genuine Daikin PCBs — factory-matched

A Daikin board is specified for a particular model and firmware. A genuine, factory-matched PCB pairs correctly with the rest of the system and protects the unit’s inverter control; an approximate board can leave the system miscommunicating or unprotected. We carry the genuine Daikin PCB range across indoor, outdoor, control and inverter boards, including the capacity-setting adaptors and EEPROMs some models need.

How to find the right PCB

Boards are highly model-specific, and Daikin parts aren’t searchable by model number online — so tell us your model. Send a photo of your Compliance Plate or give us your model number, and we’ll confirm the right genuine board (and any adaptor or EEPROM it needs).
