How Daikin drainage works

The indoor unit’s drain pan collects the condensate from the coil, and a hose carries it outside by gravity. Where gravity drainage isn’t possible — common with ducted and cassette units — a condensate pump lifts the water up and out. Many systems also have a float switch that detects a high water level and shuts the unit down before it overflows.
